This recipe is amazing. My kids love ketchup & can’t even tell a difference between this recipe & store bought ketchup. I basically looked at the back of the ketchup bottle to see the ingredients & was able to whisk up this very simple recipe of ingredients that are probably are already in the pantry. I can’t control the salt & sugar that is in the store bought ketchup but I can if I make it from scratch! Xylitol is a great substitute for sugar due to it’s low glycemic index & fewer calories. Don’t knock it before you try this ketchup from scratch!
- ¼ cup Tomato paste
- ½ cup water
- 2 T rice wine vinegar
- 2 t white sugar or xylitol sugar
- 1 t onion powder
- 1 t salt, if desired
- Mix all ingredients.
- Serve right away or for best results, let sit overnight.
